Helen Haverfield

Helen Alice Haverfield, age 93, of Parker, Kansas died Saturday March 21, 2009 at the home of her daughter near Parker. She was born on July 6, 1915 at Centerville, Kansas the daughter of Arlo S. and Cora Cooper McCarty. She graduated from Parker Rural High School class of 1934. She married Rolla Hampton on June 7, 1936. To this union five children were born. Rolla preceded her in death on November 27, 1950. She later married Charles O. Haverfield on January 16, 1970. Helen was a member of the Parker United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, Western Missouri Antique Tractor and Machinery Association and the Auxillary, and the Parker Community Historical Society. She enjoyed painting, gardening, crafting safety pin braided rugs, fishing and dancing. Also preceding her in death were her parents, one son Philip A. Hampton Sr., one daughter Cheryl P. Erwin, a grandson Daniel Erwin and a brother Harold McCarty. She is survived by her husband Charles O. Haverfield of the home, four sons Charles M. Hampton Sr. and Virginia of Parker, Kansas, Charles L. Haverfield and Linda of Parker, Robert Haverfield and Sheila and Steven Haverfield and Rose all of Yakima, Washington; two daughters, Marilyn Rhoades of Parker, and Rolleen Stites and Alvin of LaCygne, Kansas, one daughter in law Bertha Hampton of Boonville, Missouri, twenty three grandchildren, forty four great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Thursday March 26, 2009 at the Parker United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Highland Cemetery, Parker, Kansas. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday March 25, 2009 at the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home in LaCygne, Kansas. The family suggests contributions to the Parker United Methodist Church, WMAT & MA or the Parker Community Historical Society.
