Hayes L. Martin, 79, of Louisburg, Kansas formerly of Lacygne, Kansas passed away Friday, June 3, 2005 at the Louisburg Care Center. He was born June 24, 1925 in Osawatomie, KS, the son of Hazel Leroy Martin and Gertrude Mary Benton (Martin). He married Ida Elizabeth Sullivan on August 12, 1954 in Paola, Kansas. He worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad for many years and retired in March 1989 as a Foreman. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He attended the Baptist Church in Lacygne, served on the LaCygne City Council, also served as Fire Chief as well as mayor of Lacygne for 2 terms. He was also a Grand Master of the Masonic Lodge in Osawatomie, Kansas and a member of the master Angler Association. He is survived by a daughter, Earnesteen Bracy of Olathe, Kansas, 2 step sons, Clifford Boyd of LaCygne, Kansas, Nathan Boyd of Indianapolis, Indiana and Tom York of Louisburg, KS, a sister, Hazel Wilhoite, 4 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Ida Elizabeth Martin on January 22, 2003 and 2 brothers, John and Otis Martin. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 11, 2005 at the Calvary Baptist Church, LaCygne, Kansas with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9-10:00 AM, Saturday at the church.
