Harold Vankirk

Harold Leon VanKirk, 82, of Prescott, Kansas, died Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at St. Joseph Health Center, Kansas City, Missouri. He was born March 30, 1925 at Worland, Missouri, the son of Veteran and Loraine Moslander. Harold's father, Veteran died when Harold was five years old. His mother married Bart Lloyd who raised him. Harold worked as an equipment operator for Linn County, prior to retiring. He married Christina Lloyd and to this union four children were born. He later married Cleda Ferne Leonard on November 1, 1959. She preceded him in death on June 21, 1993. He was preceded also by his parents and one brother, Howard VanKirk. Survivors include two sons, Robert VanKirk of Prescott, Kansas and Bill VanKirk of Mound City, Kansas; two daughters, Donna Jean Hazel and Pam Stevens, both of Mound City, Kansas; one step-son, Billy Howell and three step-daughters, Melva Howell, Nita Spears & Peggy Millard; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, December 7, 2007 at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Pleasanton, Kansas. Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time. Contributions are suggested to the Harold VanKirk Memorial Fund c/o the funeral home. Interment will be in Pleasanton Cemetery.
