H. Maurice "Cy" Brown, 88, of Centerville, Kansas, died Tuesday, March 13, 2007 at Life Care Center, Osawatomie, Kansas. He was born May 17, 1918 in Mapleton, Kansas, the son of Clarence and Gladys Weaver Brown. He married Evah Nadine Fish on July 14, 1942 at Centerville, Kansas. She preceded him in death on November 1, 2006. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Army. He was a farmer and stockman and a member of the Centerville Community Church. Other memberships include, American Legion, Ozark Camping Club and a member of the Cowboy Band who played on the Mound City Band Wagon. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Mitt Brown and one sister, Velma Jean Brown. Survivors include one son, Howard Brown & Bobbie of Fort Scott, Kansas; one daughter, Roberta Willis & Jack of Kansas City, Missouri; a sister, Gene Hinkle & Peter of Hemet, California; a sister-in-law, Mary Brown of Albuquerque, New Mexico; six grandchildren, Shannon, Leslie, Dustin, Glenn Amy & John; and seven great grandchildren, Frankie, Adrianna, Tristan, Nikki, Jackie, Patrick and Megan. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 17, 2007 at the Centerville Community Church, Centerville, Kansas. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, Friday at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Mound City, Kansas. Contributions are suggested to the Centerville Community Church Building Fund.
