Gordy Phillips Jr., 80, of Pleasanton, Kansas, died Monday, March 7, 2005 at Mercy Health Center, Fort Scott, Kansas. He was born February 1, 1925 in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of F. Gorodess and Opal E. (Phillips) Phillips. He was a safety engineer for Home Insurance and a served with the United States Army during World War II. He married Mary Forshay on June 29, 1946 at Des Moines, Iowa. She survives of the home. Other survivors include three sons F. Gorodess "Scoop" Phillips III, of Overland Park, Kansas; James D. Phillips of San Francisco, California and Major Mark E. Phillips and wife, Terri of Alexandria, Virginia; one grandson, Steven Phillips and two sisters, Dianne Kelley of Phoenix, Arizona and Barbara Rusk of Aimes, Iowa.
