Gordon Read

Gordon A. Read, 83, of Pleasanton, Kansas, died Saturday, June 25, 2005 at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, Missouri. He was born December 22, 1921 in Rice Lake, Wisconson, the son of Robley and Mamie Faurot Read. He served with the United States Army during World War II. On August 25, 1950, he married Golda Brown. She preceded him in death on June 17, 1986. He later married Bonnie Giles Miller who also preceded him October 7, 1999. He was a member of the United Methodist Church the VFW Post #862 of Pleasanton, Kansas and the Hewitt-New American Legion Post, Mound City, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Vain and Charlie and three sisters; Mable, Velma and Lela. Survivors include his daughter, Rosalie Baugh of Pleasanton, Kansas; two sisters, Hazel Hoard of Tacoma, Washington and Marion Jennie of Wisconsin two grandsons; Kirk and Kenneth Baugh and three granddaughters. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Pleasanton, Kansas. Visitation will be from 7-8 PM Tuesday at the chapel. Contributions are suggested to the Methodist Church, Pleasanton, Kansas. Interment will be in Pleasanton Cemetery.
