Gerald E. "Jack" Walrod, age 89 of Prescott, Kansas passed away June 11, 2010 at the Country View Nursing Home in Prescott. He was born January 18, 1921 in Prescott, Kansas the son of James D. and Cora Nelle Hopkins Walrod. He graduated from Prescott High School. Jack married Janie Mae Graham on June 7, 1942 in Mound City, KS. She preceded him in death August 19, 1992. He was a Marine Veteran of WWII and a member of the Pleasanton VFW. He was a self employed trucker and worked for many years at the Farmers Exchange Elevator in Prescott. He was also preceded in death by his parents , three brothers Morris Walrod, Marion Walrod, James Walrod , one sister Annalee Phillips and one great grandchild. Survivors include two sons Phil Walrod of Elkhart, KS., John Walrod of Prescott, KS., four daughters Schery Rupprecht, Pam Balknap, Missy Barrett all of Fort Scott, KS and Polly Wheeler of Prescott, KS., three sisters Josephine Mayhugh of Prescott, KS, Evelyn Lubrano of Middleton, Delaware and Dixie McDonnell of Coco Beach, Florida, 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Service will be 10:00 AM Tuesday June15, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Prescott. Visitation Monday evening 6:30 to 8 pm Coffel Schneider Funeral Home in Pleasanton.
