Forrest Edwin Virgin, 95, of Pleasanton, Kansas, died Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Mercy Health Center, Fort Scott, Kansas. He was born April 20, 1915 at Boicourt, Kansas, the son of George R. and Lela E. Wier Virgin. He married Margie Sherman on June 5, 1946 at Lenexa, Kansas. She preceded him in death in 1978. Forrest was employed with Bendix and worked as a heavy equipment operator prior to retirement. Forrest was a World War II veteran, serving with the United States Army. He was a member of the VFW at Pleasanton and the Odd Fellows, LaCygne, Kansas. He was preceded in death also by his parents; his son, Eddie Virgin, who died in 1988; six brothers, Lee, Lewis, Barney, Kenneth, Ivan and Reece; one sister, Bessie; and a grandson, Ivan Virgin who died October, 19, 2000. Survivors include three sons; Curtis Virgin of Olathe, Kansas, Kenny and wife, Jo Linn and Keith Virgin and wife, Joyce, all of Linn Valley, Kansas; two daughters, Cindy Taylor of Mound City, Kansas and Kathy Morton of Parsons, Kansas; thirteen grandchildren,twenty-four great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, May 24, 2010 at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Pleasanton, Kansas. Private family interment will be held at a later date.
