Floyd E. Ross, age 92, of Fort Scott, Kansas formerly of Blue Mound, Kansas died September 5, 2009. He was born October 27, 1916 at Syracuse, Kansas the son of William Wesley and Effie May Jinks Ross. He graduated from Blue Mound High School in 1934 and Allen County Community College in 1937. He served his country from December of 1941 to December 1945 in the United States Army. Floyd married Wanda Richards on January 27, 1947 in Mound City, Kansas. He worked as a rural mail carrier and farmer. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Fort Scott, American Legion, VFW, Disabled American Veterans, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, National Rural Letter Carriers Association, and the Westbury Homes Association. He was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Murrow, and five brothers: Earl, Elmer, Fred, Vernie, and Lester Ross. He is survived by his wife Wanda Ross and a brother William Ross. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday September 9, 2009 at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel in Mound City. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Blue Mound.
