Evelyn Maxine Hamilton, 96, of Olathe, KS (formerly of Pleasanton KS) passed away peacefully on June 8, and now resides in her heavenly home. Evelyn was born May 3, 1911 in Pleasanton, Ks at the family homestead. She attended elementary school in a one room schoolhouse and high school at Pleasanton High School. Evelyn graduated from Emporia State Teachers College receiving a B. S. in Education. She taught in one room schools for a number of years and substituted after her fulltime employment. Sseveral of her students have remained in contact with her over the years. Evelyn was married to Ralph Hamilton on December 26, 1934. They were married for sixty-six years until his death in 2001. Evelyn was active in Eastern Star and was Republican precinct committeewoman for several years. She was a devout Christian and a lifetime member of Prescott United Methodist Church. She was a friend to many and Mom to not only her daughter Shirley, but also to a host of individuals, both relatives and acquaintances. She was also a vivid storyteller, relating historical and other anecdotes form days gone by. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Hamilton,, her parents, Austin and Alma Coffin, and by her sister Regina Fitch. She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Flude, of Olathe, a beloved grandson, Craig Phillips and wife Mary of Olathe. She also leaves a Nephew and a host of Great Nieces and Nephews. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday June 12 at Prescott United Methodist Church in Prescott Ks. Burial will be in Littell Cemetery near Pleasanton Ks.
