Eustrus E. Barnes, age 93, Hume, Missouri passed away on Saturday November 15, 2014. He was born on September 15, 1921 at Prescott, Kansas the son of Thomas Andrew and Mary Estella Sullivan Barnes. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II attaining the rank of Sergeant and earning four bronze stars. He married Betty DeVinney on August 31, 1943 at Fulton, Kansas. She preceded him in death on November 23, 2002. After the war, Eustrus worked as a carpenter, and farmer and later owned Barnes Trash Service. He was a member of the Hume Christian Church and the Rich Hill American Legion. He had served on the Underwood Cemetery Board, was a Past Master of the Stotesbury Grange, past member of the Henry Township Board, and served on the Hume School Board. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Floyd Barnes, a son in law, Patrick Sheehy, a sister, Ruth Thomas and a grandson David. He is survived by two sons, Thomas Barnes and wife Mary and David Barnes and companion Harriett Cheek, a daughter, Mary Beth Sheehy, eleven grandchildren, twenty-nine great grandchildren and other extended family and friends. Funeral service will be held 11 AM, Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at the Hume Christian Church. Burial will be in the Underwood Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Underwood Cemetery.
