Ernest "Shorty" Sellers, 101, of Pleasanton, Kansas died Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at Mercy Health Center, Fort Scott, Kansas. He was born January 29, 1910 in Burlington, Kansas, the son of Reuben and Lula Rosenberger Sellers. He married Arzilla Darling on December 2, 1934 at Kansas City, Kansas. They were married for 62 years. Arzilla preceded him in death on March 26, 1996. Ernest was veteran of World War II, serving with the United States Navy. He worked as a mail carrier for the Pleasanton Post Office. He had served on the Pleasanton City Council and Pleasanton School Board and was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Pleasanton for over 53 years. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Melvin, Claude and Wayne Sellers and one sister, Ruth Allen. He is survived by his son, Steve Sellers of Pleasanton, Kansas. Services will be held at 3:00 PM, March 19, 2011 at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Pleasanton, Kansas. Per Mr. Sellers wishes, he will be cremated. Private burial will be in the Pleasanton Cemetery at a later date.
