Erma Bishop

Erma Olive Bishop, 93, of Blue Mound, Kansas, died Wednesday, March 28, 2007 at Olathe Medical Center, Olathe, Kansas. She was born October 25, 1913 in Centerville,Kansas, the 5th child of 11 children of John and Emma Orton Giffin. She graduated from Parker High School. On August 29, 1936 she married Jacob T. Bishop. He preceded her in death on March 11, 1965. Erma owned the Blue Mound Dress Shop. She was a member of the Blue Mound Federated Church and the Rebekah Lodge of Blue Mound. Erma enjoyed playing Shanghi Cards. She was preceded in death also by five brothers, Warren, Wallace, Lawrence, Lester and Leonard; two sisters, Helen Kehl and Seramae Post and a grandson, Andy Lee Stites. Survivors include five sons; Waverly & wife, Lillian of Osawatomie, Kansas, Dan & wife, Alberta of Garnett, Kansas, Roy & wife, Kathy of Erie, Kansas, Mike & wife, Bonnie of Parker, Kansas and Les & wife, Vicky of Moran, Kansas; one daughter, Donna Stites & husband, Ralph of Mound City, Kansas; two sisters, Delores White of Tongonoxie, Kansas and Pauline Gilroy of Eudora, Kansas, one brother, Lloyd Giffin of Woodland, California; also sixteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 31, 2007 at the Federated Church, Blue Mound, Kansas. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, Friday at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Mound City,Kansas. Contributions are suggested to the Blue Mound Federated Church.
