Elvin E. Kimzey, 92, of Topeka passed away July 14, 2011 at Brewster Place Health Center in Topeka. He was born June 6, 1919 in Linn County, Kansas, the son of Dick and Zella Fritts Kimzey. Elvin grew up in Linn County and married Emily Lorene Leonard Kimzey on December 24, 1941 who preceded him in death on August 21, 2007. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II, and became County Clerk of Linn County following his return from service. He ultimately went to work for the State of Kansas and then the Santa Fe Railroad, moving to Topeka, Kansas with his family in 1956. He retired from Santa Fe Industries in 1986 as Vice President of Taxes and Insurance. He was a 33rd degree Mason and a member of the First Christian Church of Topeka.Elvin is survived by his two sons, Steve Kimzey of Topeka and Ron Kimzey of Atlanta, GA, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A memorial graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday July 23, 2011 in the Oak Lawn Cemetery in LaCygne, Kansas. The family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer Association.
