Elva Edward Holden, age 89, Amsterdam, Missouri died as the result of an accident Sunday, July 3, 2016. He was born at Iola, Kansas on January 13, 1927 one of seven children born to Louis and Ola Gladys Matney Holden. He was a disabled American Veteran serving in the United States Army during World War II. Ed attended the Amsterdam Baptist Church. He liked to garden, feed the birds and fish. He is survived by his wife Joyce Holden, daughter, Janelle Holden and several nieces and nephews. Graveside funeral service with military honors will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the Fort Scott National Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel.
