Elonzo "Lonnie" Turpen, 75, of Pleasanton, Kansas, died Sunday, September 11, 2005 at Life Care Center, Osawatomie, Kansas. He was born September 14, 1928 in Foster, Missouri, the son of Bueal A. and Anna Lee Wisdom Turpen. He married Ruby McBride on June 1, 1945 at Mound City, Kansas. Lonnie reconditioned used cars for Kipper Chevrolet and Cox Motors, prior to his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and three sisters. Survivors include his wife, Ruby of Pleasanton, Kansas; three sons, Glenn Turpen of Pleasanton, Kansas; Jimmy Turpen of Neosho, Missouri and Robert Turpen of Thayer, Missouri; two brothers, John Turpen of Kennewick, Washington and Tom Turpen of Osawatomie, Kansas; two sisters, Dorothy Kendrick of Warrensburg, Missouri and Fern Tryon of Independence, Missouri; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; two step grandchildren and one step great grandchild. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 15, 2005 at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Pleasanton, Kansas. Visitation will be one hour prior to service. Interment will be in Pleasanton Cemetery.
