Edna Mae Allen, age 79, formerly of Mound City, Kansas passed away on Friday April 4, 2014. She was born on February 8, 1935 near Centerville, Kansas the daughter of Ralph Lester and Ella Mae Adams Rigdon. She graduated from Mound City High School and attended cosmetology school. She married Morris Orland Allen on November 25, 1955 at Mound City. He preceded her in death on June 6, 2008. Edna had many different jobs during her working career, including: nurse''s aid, waitress, cashier and school bus driver. However, she most enjoyed being a homemaker. Her interests were many: crocheting, embroidering, quilting, gardening, canning and baking. Also preceding her were her parents, and a brother, Verl LeRoy Rigdon. She is survived by her children: Helen Mattox and husband Charles, Susan Meshkat and husband Sia, David Allen, and Mark Allen and wife Debbie, a brother Harry Lewis Rigdon, sister, Ethel Louise Rigdon and ten grandchildren. Funeral service will be held 2 PM Wednesday April 9, 2014 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Burial will be in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1 PM to service time at the Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Alzheimer''s Foundation.
