Duard Elgin Cox, 79, of Blue Mound, Kansas, died Monday, March 13, 2006 at the Veterans Medical Center, Topeka, Kansas. He was born December 29, 1926 in Blue Mound, Kansas, the son of Clifford and Ruby Zimmerman Cox. He graduated from Mound City High School in 1944 and served with the United States Navy during World War II. He was married to Jane Marie Mulkey on January 30, 1955 at the Federated Church, Mound City, Kansas. He was a member of the Federated Church, Blue Mound, Kansas; The Gideons International, American Legion, Mound City, Kansas; board member of the Anderson County RWD #1 and past director of the Farmers State Bank. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Merle and Worland Cox and and an infant sister, Verna Agatha . Survivors include his wife, Jane of the home; two sons; Bruce and Brent Cox, both of Blue Mound, Kansas; and one brother, Waldon Cox of Pleasanton, Kansas. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, March 16, 2006 at the Federated Church, Blue Mound, Kansas. Contributions are suggested to the Federated Church or VA Hospital Activity Fund. Interment will be in Sunny Slope Cemetery, Blue Mound, Kansas. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.coffelschneider.com. Arrangements are under the direction of the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home, Mound City, Kansas.
