Dorothy Spillman

Dorothy J. Spillman, age 93, formerly of Blue Mound, Kansas passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at the Life Care Center in Osawatomie, Kansas. She was born on June 29, 1922 at Bronson, Kansas the daughter of William and Alma Ida Tinsley Johnson. She married Roy Vernon Spillman on August 24, 1938 at Iola, Kansas. He preceded her in death on April 10, 1979. She worked at the Cafe in Blue Mound for several years, at various nutrition sites and in food service at a nursing home. Most recently she was employed as a foster grand parent for Tri-Ko. Also preceding her in death, was a grandson, Cooper Kastl, a brother, Frank Johnson, and two sisters, Betty and Lela Ann "Dee" Spillman. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Doubravsky, brother, Don Johnson, grandson, Eric Kastl, "adopted" grandson, Ryan Maddox, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. Burial will be in the Sunny Slope Cemetery, Blue Mound. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to service time at the Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Blue Mound Nutrition Site. On line condolences can be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com.
