Donna Spencer

Donna Lyn (Scott) Spencer, age 81, of Mound City, KS, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021. She was born on July 30, 1940 in rural Mound City, KS, daughter of Charles and Ruth (Barnes) Scott. Donna accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She graduated from Mound City High School, Class of 1958. Donna was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Virgil, on Oct. 26, 1958. She worked various places and  retired from Jayhawk Elementary as a cook. Donna was extremely active in church activities, loving on kids in Adventure Club and church programs. She was in the church hand bell and vocal choirs for many years. Known by many in the community as Grandma Donna, as she and Virgil attended numerous sporting events and programs any grandkids were in.

Donna was proceeded in death by her parents; her brother Chuck; grandson Brandon Michael Workman; and her beloved husband Virgil. Donna is survived by two sons, Steve Spencer and wife Sherri, and Larry Spencer and wife Shannon; two daughters, Kathy Workman and husband Mike, and Keri Jo Purinton and husband Danny; two sisters, Betty Lou Cox, and Verna Lee Foerschler and husband Tom; one brother, J. B. Scott and wife Joan; fifteen grandchildren and spouses Nikki Nation(Jeff), Tyler Spencer(Jamie), Miles Spencer(Katie), Keylee Hulsing(Jerry), Amber Dembkowski(Ryan), Courtney Mell(Josh), Doug Workman(Hope), Darcy Workman, Lucas Fornelli(Bethany), Ashton Schuler(Dusty), Sydney Sunderland(Cody), Daniel Purinton(Alissa), Sam Purinton, Luke Purinton, and Noah Purinton; eighteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Funeral service will be 11:30 am Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the Mound City Christian Church.  Burial in the Woodland Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 10 am to service time at the Church.  Contributions are suggested to the Mound City Christian Church.  Online condolences may be left at www.schneiderfunerals.com
