Donald Mervin Parker, 81, of Pleasanton, Kansas died Thursday, July 23, 2009 at Mercy Hospital, Fort Scott, Kansas. He was born January 6, 1928 in Greeley, Colorado, the son of George and Leola Grace McIlvain Parker. He married Susan Wisdom on June 17, 1989 at Pleasanton, Kansas. He was employed as a meat cutter and had worked for Lumpkins IGA, Tindle & Schneider IGA, Bakers Thriftway and Buy Rite. He was baptized on February 27, 1938. Don was an Army Veteran serving in WWII. Donald enjoyed playing golf at Sugar Valley Lakes and had the distinction of making a "hole in one". He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Susie of Pleasanton, Kansas; three sons, Ron Parker of Quememo, Kansas, Steve Parker of Butler, Missouri and Rick Parker of Blue Springs, Missouri; one daughter, Ronda Parker Lankford of Mound City, Kansas; one brother, Ken Parker of Canyon, Texas; fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, July 27, 2009 at the First Baptist Church, Mound City, Kansas. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM, Sunday at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Pleasanton, Kansas.
