Donald Wesley Epps, 84, of Pleasanton,Kansas, died Friday, March 16, 2007 at St. Joseph Medical Center, Kansas City, Missouri. He was born May 15, 1922 in Pleasanton, Kansas, the son of John Wesley and Clema Mae Phelps Epps. He married Mary Helen Ewan on December 23, 1941. Donald owned and operated the Pleasanton Mill & Elevator Company, Pleasanton, Kansas and Farmers Exchange at Prescott, Kansas. He was one of the first in eastern Kansas to have bulk chemical fertilizer. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Prescott, Kansas; past president of Kansas Fertilizer and Chemical Association and past president of Kansas Feed & Grain Dealers, also past member of the Prescott School Board, Democrat County Chairman and he was involved with 4-H. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, John Joe Epps, one brother, Richard Epps, two sisters, Mary Hutcherson and Irma McGaughey and a granddaughter, Stacy. Survivors include his wife, Mary Helen Epps of Pleasanton, Kansas one son, David Epps & wife, Carolyn of Pleasanton, Kansas; one daughter, Jennifer Grasela & husband, Joe of Leavenworth, Kansas; one sister, Wilma Beckwith of McPherson, Kansas; six grandchildren, Shelly, Matt, Don, Amy, Joseph & Mary and six great grandchildren, Beth, Dyamond, John, Zoe, Emma & Addie. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, March 19, 2007 at the Prescott Methodist Church, Prescott, Kansas. Visitation will be from 3:30 to 5:00 PM, Sunday at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Pleasanton, Kansas. Contributions are suggested to Hospice. Interment will be in the Littell Cemetery, Pleasanton,Kansas. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.coffelschneider.com.
