Dennis "Denny" Robert Baker, age 67, Linn Valley, Kansas died Wednesday January 19, 2011. He was born on October 25, 1943 the son of Robert Edna Rose Baker. He graduated from LaCygne Rural High School in 1961. He was employed as a meat cutter and meat market manager in LaCygne and Louisburg. He also worked in the meat department at Wal Mart and most recently at Julie's Market in LaCygne. He married Walda Hilliard on July 11, 1966 at Miami, Oklahoma. He was a member of the Paola United Methodist Church and sang in the church choir. He was a member of the Lincoln Scott Township Hospital Board, served on the Prairie School Board and was the voice of Prairie View Buffalo Football for many years. He received a heart transplant in 1999, giving him an additional eleven and one-half years to enjoy life. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Brian Baker and a sister Ellen Dunlop. He is survived by his wife Walda of the home, son Bruce Baker and wife Rochelle of Linn Valley, Kansas, two brothers, Bud Creager of Independence, Missouri and Fred Baker of Overland Park, Kansas and three grandsons, Brandon, Brett and Brian. Memorial service will be held 11 AM Wednesday January 26, 2011 at the Paola United Methodist Church. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM Tuesday January 25, 2011 at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel in LaCygne, Kansas.
