Darryl Gillespie

Darryl L. Gillespie, age 77, of Pleasanton, Kansas went to meet his Lord on Friday January 25, 2013. He was born on January 15, 1936 at Ridgeway, Missouri the son of Amos and Ruby Shaine Gillespie. He married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Sharion Baker on October 6, 1956 at Kansas City, Kansas. He owned and operated a janitorial service. He later became a member of the Laborer's Union Local #1290. He retired from L.G. Barcus. Darryl loved to fish, hunt and watch his sons and grandson race on the dirt track. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Roy, a brother Randall Gillespie and four sisters, Wilma Coots, Dlyn Eisenberger, Audrey Custer, and Loleta Downey. He is survived by his wife, Sharion of the home, two sons, Darryl "Cork" Gillespie(Ruthie), Donald "Butch" Gillespie both of Pleasanton, a brother Clayton Gillespie, two sisters, Beverly Thompson and Pauline Wood, granddaughter, Tonya Tomory, grandson Darryl Gillespie Jr.(Jennifer)., and great grandchildren Trysta and Axel Gillespie. Darryl was a fun guy, always had a joke, and helped whoever whenever he could. Funeral service will be held 11 AM Tuesday, January 29 at the Pleasanton Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in the Pleasanton Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM Monday at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel.
