Daniel Lee Green was born August 17, 1940, in Columbus, Ohio. He died October 11, 2010, at Mercy Hospital in the Pelliative Care Unit. His wife was at his side. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Ellen Mae Lahrmer. He graduated from Bishop Watterson High School in June, 1958. In September 1958, he enlisted in the U. S. Navy. He served four years in the Navy, the last two aboard the destroyer U.S.S. Bache, stationed out of Norfolk, Virginia. He received his honorable discharge in September. 1962. On October 8, 1960, he married the former Trudy Thommessen. They observed 50 years of love on the Friday before his death. They were the proud parents of two daughters; Virginia (Ginny) Clarke of Prescott, Kansas, and Julie Sullivan of Independence, Missouri, and three grandsons; Randy (Amy) Sullivan, Ryan Sullivan and Andy Clarke. He is also survived by two brothers; Thomas (Marjorie), Marietta, Ohio and Richard, of Columbus Ohio. He was a Machinist by trade and had his own machine shop in Wisconsin. He sold that business and he and his wife moved to Kansas in 1981. He restarted the machine shop three years later, which he and his wife operated for the next 22 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. He loved fishing and hunting when he could find the time. He enjoyed taking things apart to see how they worked. He could always make people laugh. He had a great sense of humor. He was a good man and a kind heart and will be sorely missed. As per his wishes, Mr. Green was cremated. Private family inurnment at a later date.
