Cynthia Layne Files, age 64, Mound City, Kansas passed away on Friday February 14, 2020. She was born on July 6, 1955 in Victorville, California the daughter of Keith and Velva Halbach Fry. She graduated from Silver Creek High in San Jose, California and attended Riverside Community College for three semesters. She was employed with Kansas City Power and Light for over thirty years. She earned numerous safety awards during her employment. She was a member of the Mound City Christian Church, involved in the Pioneer Harvest Festival, volunteered in many capacities and help raise funds for several charities, worked in Al Anon and was a competitive pistol shooter. Cindy and Carl Files were married September 22, 2011. Cindy was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Pat Faulkner. She is survived by her husband, Carl, two daughters, Melinda Satcher and husband Shawn, Rachel Johnson and husband Jeffery, four brothers, Mike Fry, Wayne Allen, Randy Beard and Wesley Beard, two sisters, Brenda Watkins and Bridgett Newman, and three grandchildren, Jeremy, Casey and Madison.
Funeral service will be held 10:30 am Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at the Mound City First Christian Church. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Monday, February 17 at the Church.
