Colton James McCammon entered the arms of Jesus on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at the age of 21.
He was born on August 26, 2003, in Fort Scott, Kansas. His Spiritual birth was Sunday, April 6, 2014, at 11:16 am where he joined his brothers and sisters of Christ. Colton was a 2022 graduate of Prairie View High School where he had a very successful football career finishing with an All-State Linebacker recognition. He recently became a member of the Operating Engineers Local 101 Union with Haupt Construction. He was known there for “having a great attitude, being a hard worker and doing a great job”.
Colton had a love for the outdoors. Hunting and ranching were his passions. He has loved cows since he could walk. You didn’t need a written record of the cow’s history with Colton around. He could tell you what a cow’s cow had and tell you the ear tag that went with it. He was willing to do anything for the cows, from getting into a pond in 30-degree weather or getting in a hot tub with a calf or raising Norman his bottle calf. Colton’s other passion was hunting. Deer hunting and duck hunting were his favorites, and he was good at it. Once he spotted the deer that he wanted that year he was determined to get it. His family swears those deer would just come right out to him. However, he still had to make the shot, and he did.
Colton’s goofy sense of humor and giggle could make anyone smile. From his jokes to his dancing, you couldn’t help but laugh. Colton loved his niece and nephew fiercely. He loved playing with them and always talked about all the “uncle teachings” he was going to provide.
Colton is survived by his father Clint (Kendra) McCammon; mother Christy Harris; siblings: Pyper McCammon (Jeb); Ella McCammon; Brycen Gregg; Gradey Gregg; KayLyne Gregg; Charly Gregg; niece and nephew: Flora and Callahan; grandparents: James (Linda) McCammon; Gayle (Don) Semple; Teddi (LeRoy) Wisdom; Jerry Tarwater; great grandfather: John Payne; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends.
