Clinton Jaeger Jr.

March 2, 1921 — July 30, 2013

Longtime Mound City, Kansas resident and businessman Clinton J. Jaeger Jr. passed away, Tuesday, July 30th, 2013, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 92. Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey on March 2, 1921 he was the son of Elizabeth and Clinton Jaeger Sr. In 1942 he joined the Army Air Force during World War II where he met and married his wife of 63 years, the late Mildred Huff Jaeger in April of 1943. As a member of the 899th Air Engineering Squadron Clint was attached to the 394th bomb group that moved through England, France, Holland, and Germany. Following his WWII service Clint and Mildred moved from New Jersey to Mound City, Kansas where they owned and operated Jaeger Motors for 45 years. An active advocate for Mound City he served as mayor for many years along with being a member of the school board, and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator. He and Mildred were long time members of St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Fort Scott, Kansas where Clint also served many years on the vestry. A life-time member of the Mound City Masonic Lodge, Clint was also a lifetime American Legion, and a VFW member. Clint was preceded in death by his parents, wife Mildred, sister Elizabeth Dillin, brother Norman Howard Jaeger and granddaughter Nicole Jaeger. He is survived by daughter Joyce Stillwaugh of Colorado Springs, Colorado, sons Greg of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Erik of Mound City, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Many thanks go out to friend Virginia Densohoff and her family along with the care and support of Crossroads Hospice in Oklahoma City. Donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, c/o Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory. Visitation will be at Schneider Funeral Home in Mound City from 6:00 until 8:00pm, Thursday August 8th. Services will be held at 10:00am Friday, August 9th at Schneider Funeral Home Chapel in Mound City with inurnment at Woodland Cemetery, Mound City.
