Cleo Stenzel

Cleo Patricia "Pat" Stenzel, age 87, passed away on Thursday May 22, 2014. She was born on August 11, 1926 in Martin City, Missouri the daughter of Everett and Helen Maudlin Sackman. Her youth was spent in the Kansas City area. The family moved to Fontana, Kansas in 1943 where she graduated from high school in 1944. Pat married Paul Long in 1944. They later divorced. She later married Samuel Stenzel on May 20, 1972 in Osawatomie, Kansas. He preceded her in death on November 6, 2013 after sharing over forty-one years together. Pat worked at the Osawatomie State Hospital from the early 1960''s until she married Sam. The couple resided in Lincoln, Nebraska from 1972 until 1979. They relocated to Arlington, Virginia until they retired in 1991. Pat spent her retirement years in Ottawa, Kansas. After Sam''s passing, she spent her remaining months in Vintage Park in Louisburg, Kansas. She is survived by her children; David Long and wife, Gloria, Linda Andersen and husband Edwin, Marilyn Chandler and husband Jim, and Janette Bennett and husband Danny; step children; Terry Stenzel and wife Bonnie, Samuel Stenzel, and Andie DeJarnette; three brothers; Richard Sackman and wife Yamu, Ross Sackman and wife Jeanne, and John Sackman and wife Judy; fourteen grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren. Beside Sam, she was also preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Gloria Sackman Reed and two grand daughters; Patricia Long and Michelle Hedman. Pat deeply missed Sam and now she is no longer separated from him. They are together eternally. Pat was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. She will be deeply missed and remain in the hearts and thoughts of her family and friends forever. Funeral services will be held 1 PM Sunday May 25, 2014 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, La Cygne Chapel. Burial in the Fontana Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 4 PM Saturday at the Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Ottawa, Kansas Calvary Baptist Church.
