Charles Marvin Murray, age 91, Pleasanton, Kansas passed away on Sunday December 29, 2013 at Fort Scott Mercy Hospital. He was born on December 18, 1922 at Farlinville, Kansas the son of Charles and Susie West Murray. Marvin graduated from Mound City High School and attended business school in Kansas City, Kansas. He married Cleda Fern Umphenour on September 24, 1950. He enlisted with the Merchant Marines and later served in the United States Army as a paratrooper during World War II. After honorable discharge from the Army he worked on construction projects with his father. He and Cleda Fern began farming, and farmed for the remainder of his work career. He enjoyed antiquing, listening to country music and spending time with his family. Marvin was a member of the Pleasanton First Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, LaVern, and two sisters, June O''Rourke and Judy Dunavan. Marvin is survived by Cleda Fern, two children, Larry Marvin Murray and wife Patricia of Nixa, Missouri, and Linda Marie Arnold of Springfield, Missouri, three grandchildren: Jason Murray Arnold, Janel Dawn Nibert and husband Cory, and Jessica Marie Arnold, and two great grandchildren, Cooper and Jaxson Nibert, brother L.D. Murray and sister Helen "BeBe" Bruce. Funeral service will be 2 PM Thursday January 2,2014 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Burial in the Pleasanton Cemetery.
