Charles Herbert Morrell, 81, of Fort Scott, Kansas, formerly of Blue Mound, Kansas, died Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at Fort Scott Manor. He was born February 25, 1927 at Pleasanton, Kansas, the son of Arthur Ray and Eva Marie Burkhead Morrell. He graduated from Mound City High School. Charles served his country with the United States Army, during World War II. On November 28, 1951, he married Katherine "Dorene" Kramer at Fort Scott, Kansas. He was a former member of the American Legion at Centerville, Kansas. Charles was self-employed as a farmer and stockman. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Charles "Chuck" Morrell; two brothers, James and Ralph and one sister, Patricia. Survivors include his wife, Dorene Morrell of Fort Scott, Kansas; one son, Dan Morrell & Dorothy of Blue Mound, Kansas; one daughter, Janice Martino & Lonnie of Olathe, Kansas; one brother, Art Morrell; one sister, Virginia Carrington; five grandchildren, Keith Morrell, Becky Davis, Stephen, Ryan & Kristen Martino and ten great grandchildren Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, October 25, 2008, at Sunny Slope Cemetery, Blue Mound, Kansas. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, Friday, at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Mound City, Kansas.
