Charles Edward McGee age 79 of Mound City, Kansas died Tuesday January 3, 2012 at his home, the same house he was born in. He was born on June 9, 1932 at Blue Mound, Kansas the son of Glenn and Reta Dizmang McGee. Charles was a 1951 graduate of Blue Mound High School. Charles was drafted into the United States Army; on January 29, 1954 he took his basic training at Fort Riley, Kansas and then wireman school at Fort Knox, Kentucky. He served his country in Korea from July 1954 to October 1955. He married Carolyn Lee Dozier on April 29, 1954 at the Wall Street Christian Church, where he was a member since 1945. He was self- employed as a farmer, stockman, and dairyman, and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was also a member of the American Legion and a 4-H Leader. Charles was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife Carolyn of Blue Mound, Kansas, a son Clarence Alan McGee and wife Debbie of Blue Mound, Kansas, a daughter Kimberly Ann Grigsby and husband Art of Blue Mound, Kansas, a sister Eleanor Rogers of Mapleton, Kansas, nine grandchildren; Ian and Alek Ginther, Rian and Reace Young, Abby and Ethan Bruce, Christina Lubecke and husband Matt, Tucker Grigsby, and one great granddaughter Elaina Lubeke, two nieces Susan Smith and Husband Richard, Karen Olson and Husband Richie, a nephew Tim Rogers and Wife Elda, and numerous great nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday January 7, 2012 at the Wall Street Christian Church in rural Mound CIty, Kansas. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Friday January 6, 2012 at the Wall Street Christian Church. Burial will be in the Woodland Cemetery in Mound City, Kansas. The Family suggests contributions to Hospice of Kansas in C/O of Schneider Funeral Home P.O. Box J Mound City, Kansas 66056.
