Charles Leon Holmes, age 85, was born August 8, 1936 on his parents farm near Prescott, Kansas the son of Harold S. and Marguerite Coon Holmes. Leon lived his entire life in the Prescott Community attending grade school at Shiloh and Prescott and graduated from Prescott High School in the Class of 1954. He was a member of the National Guard Battalion A. He drove a truck for Stevens Produce in Prescott and Joe Rei Trucking in Blue Mound. He then became a full time farmer. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Pinkerton on June 11, 1961 in the Mantey United Methodist Church. They are the parents of one son, Larry Lee Holmes. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Milton and Jay, a sister, Elma Casida Avery and a nephew Jay Lee Casida. Leon is survived by his wife, Marilyn, son Larry Holmes, four grandsons, Larry Leon(Chip), Levi Joseph, Luke Donovan Lee, and Lane Laford, three great grandchildren, Kenny, Brailee and Lillian, four nieces and three nephews.
Graveside funeral service will be 11 am Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at the Prescott Cemetery. Individual respects and guest registry 9 am to 4 pm Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel.
