Bina Self

Bina Frank Self, age 70 of Mound City, Kansas died Saturday September 8, 2012 at the Fort Scott Medicalodge. He was born on December 21, 1941 at Kansas City, Missouri the son of Earl and Betty Jean Kindred Self. Bina was a graduate of Turner High School, and then served his country with the United States Navy. Bina worked as an insurance agent, a cabinet designer, a funeral home manager for Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory Mound City Chapel, and 20 other various jobs throughout his life. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mound City where he served as Deacon and helped with the youth. He was also a member of the Paralyzed Veterans Association, and the Sugar Valley Lakes Golf Club. Bina was preceded in death by his dad Earl Self, his mom Betty Jean Ely, and step dad Bob Ely. He is survived by a son Andrew (Pez) Lonergan and wife Leslie of Estes Park, Colorado a daughter Mia Self of Mound City, Kansas, six grandchildren Taylor, Elana, Forrest, and Joshua Self, and Macrea and Meylyr Lonergran, a sister Drena Turner, three nieces and one nephew. Services will be held at 9:00 am Thursday September 13, 2012 at the Mound City First Baptist Church. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to: 7:00 pm Wednesday at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory Mound City Chapel. Burial will be in the Fort Scott National Cemetery. The family suggests contributions to the Mound City First Baptist Church left in C/O the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory P.O. Box J Mound City, Kansas 66056.
