Billy Burgess Turner, 72, of Mound City, Kansas, died at his home on Sunday, October 19, 2008 from complications of lung cancer. He was born March 27, 1936 at Colemont, Tennessee, the son of Arthur Burgess and Lillian Hall Turner. He married Sharon Warner on October 7, 1957 at Junction City, Kansas. Billy was a union painter and owned and operated Turner Construction prior to retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Stan Turner. Survivors include his wife, Sharon of the home; three sons; Billie Turner Jr. and Rick Turner, both of Mound City, Kansas and Brian Turner of St. Joseph, Missouri; two daughters, Debbie Turner of Olathe, Kansas and Tina Lopez of Kansas City, Kansas; three brothers, Frank, Jim and Denny Turner; three sisters, Donna Perry, Frances Easterly and Debbie Turner; eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, October 23, 2008 at Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Mound City, Kansas. Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Pleasanton, Kansas. Contributions are suggested to Hospice Care of Kansas c/o the funeral home.
