Billie Maize "Bill" Montgomery, age 92, Blue Mound, Kansas passed away Sunday, March23, 2014 at St. John Owasso, Oklahoma. He was born on September 29, 1921 at Olustee, Oklahoma the son of Joe Martin and Louisa Blackburn Montgomery. Bill was an Army Veteran serving his country during World War II. After the war, he was employed at Boeing. He retired from Boeing in 1981 after 30 years of service. He married Zula Hogan on August 10, 1968 at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They moved to Blue Mound and started farming and ranching, raising South Devon Cattle. He was a member of the Blue Mound Federated Church, Blue Mound Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Consistory in Fort Scott, and Gideons International. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Daron Montgomery. He is survived by a son, Allan Montgomery and fiance Ms. Billie Lee Nees, a daughter, JoAnn Cox and husband Larry, grandchildren: Michelle Cobb and husband Gary, Darci Beaver, Cory Cox and wife Shonna, Megan Bagby and husband Richard, and great grandchildren: Victoria Coulson, Sarah and Kelby Cobb, Trent and Payton Beaver, and Savannah and Christian Bagby. Funeral service will be held 11 AM Saturday March 29, 2014 at the Blue Mound Federated Church. Burial will be in the Sunny Slope Cemetery. Visitation will be held from5 to 6:30 PM Friday, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel. The family suggests contributions to Gideons International.
