Billie L. Gleason, 91, of Overland Park, Kansas, formerly of Mound City, Kansas, died Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at The Forum Care Center of Overland Park. She was born April 27, 1916 in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of William Arthur and Mary Viola Hayslip Lawrence. Billie graduated from Columbus North High School in 1934. She attended Columbus Art School and Franklin University from 1935-1937 and later attended Ohio State University in 1942. She was employed as an executive assistant to the Chairman of the Board for GTE in New York until her marriage to Doug Gleason on March 6, 1963. He preceded her in death on April 6, 1999. She was a member of the Federated Church, Mound City, Kansas and the Red Hat Society, and had attended the Congregational Church in Kansas City, Missouri. Billlie was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Fred and two sisters, Betty and June. Survivors include a sister, Helen B. Williams of Columbus, Ohio; one nephew, Larry Williams of Calabasas, California; one niece, Patricia White of Zanesville, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Gleason of Ottawa, Kansas and her friend and caregiver, Pat Becker of Olathe, Kansas. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, August 3, 2007 at the Coffel-Schneider Chapel, Mound City, Kansas. Interment will be in Woodland Cemetery, Mound City, KS.
