Betty Jo Masters, 83, of Mound City, Kansas passed away on Monday, March 28th, 2016, at Prescott Country View. Betty Jo was born at Ft. Scott KS, July 23, 1932, as the sole child to Leonard and Elma (Venters) Randall, also of Mound City. In 1950, Betty Jo graduated from Mound City High School and married John, her high school sweetheart and husband for 65 years on April 8, 1951. Betty Jo traveled with John while he served in the United States Air Force and they lived in Washington State and Denison, Texas until John completed his service in 1956. John and Betty Jo lived various places before settling at their farm where they currently reside near Mound City. Betty Jo was a member of the American Legion Women''s Auxiliary and a past member of the Lost Creek HDU. Betty Jo was a homemaker while John farmed and raised Angus cattle with her father until he retired and then continued the operation until 1993. Betty Jo enjoyed cooking and entertaining friends through the years and enjoyed sharing special occasions with all of her family. One of her favorite things to do during these occasions was to play cards. She enjoyed crocheting and making latch-hook rugs for those she loved. Betty Jo was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She will be sadly missed by all those who knew her and loved her. Betty Jo was preceded in death by a daughter, Denise Johnson and both of her parents. She is survived by her husband John of the home, two daughters, Diana Otto and husband Kenny, of Mound City, and Darla Perry and husband John Michael of Independence, MO, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many step-grandchildren and step- great-grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers are her grandsons, Jesse Johnson, John Frank, Jeff Harlow, Keith Harlow, Kyle Harlow, Ean Frank, and Trevor Gilmore-husband of her only granddaughter Ayla. Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Mound City United Methodist Church. Burial in the Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Schneider Mound City Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Mound City United Methodist Church.
