Betty Longhibler

Betty Charlotte Rush Longhibler, 92, passed away, Saturday, October 23rd in Greensboro, NC. She was born July 18, 1918 in LaCygne, Kansas, daughter of Amos and Sarah Rush graduating from LaCygne High School in 1936 and from business school in Kansas City in 1938. She married Edward Longhibler of St. Louis in 1943. In 1954 she joined the staff at Park University serving 9 presidents and the Board of Trustees. In 1963 she became the Law Office Administrator at Stinson, Mag, Thomson, McEvers, and Fizzell and stayed there 12 years before working for 3 years as Assistant to the President of Woolfe Brothers. A member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood since 1937 she belonged to the Kansas City Women's Chamber of Commerce, The American Management Association, The Personnel Management Association, and was a charter member of the Business and Professional Women's Association of Parkville, MO. She joined the LaCygne Christian Church at 15 and in later years transferred her membership to the Community Christian Church of Kansas City. Betty was preceded in death by her daughter, Vicki Longhibler Hickey and her brother, James W. Rush. She is survived by her daughter Penne Longhibler Prigge and husband Rich of Greensboro, NC, grandchildren John (Sarah) Hickey and James Hickey of Shawnee Mission, Scott (Brittain) Prigge of Atlanta, Susan Prigge (Daniel) Zinn of New York City, Grant (Clara) Prigge of Shanghai, sister-in-law Rachel Rush and nephews Dan and Bill Rush, and step-grandson Daniel Hickey, Also dear to her were cousins Jay Kintner and Gretchen Kintner Richardson in CA and many many special friends. Betty was devoted to her beloved daughters and very proud of her 5 great grandchildren, Ellis, Will, Charlotte, Jack, and Max. Music, art, and writing were always a part of her life. A graveside service will be held November 6th at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Lawn Cemetery, LaCygne, KS with a memorial service the same day at 2:00 p.m. at Community Christian Church, 4501 Main Street, Kansas City, MO. Memorials may be made to Moses Cone Cancer Center, 1200 No Elm St. Greensboro, NC 27401. Arrangements: Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home LaCygne, Kansas.
