Betty Lindsey

November 18, 1925 — December 30, 2009

BETTY LINDSEY 1925-2009 Betty Lindsey, a long time resident of the LaCygne area, passed away December 30, 2009 at her farm east of LaCygne. Betty, the daughter of Emile and Carol Apor, was born in Los Angeles, California November 18,1925. She graduated from Occidental College and joined the accounting department of Lockheed Aircraft following graduation. It was here, at Lockheed, that she met Vaughn Lindsey, a native of the LaCygne, area. Vaughn and Betty were married in the Los Angeles area in 1953 and resided there until 1960 when they left California and moved to the farm they had previously purchased east of LaCygne. Betty relished the transition from life as a big city girl to that of Kansas farm girl as together she and Vaughn changed careers and became farmers. For nearly 40 years Betty and Vaughn built and grew their farm and cattle operation specializing in her beloved Black Angus. Following Vaughn's passing in 2000, Betty continued to live on the farm until her death. Betty was an avid reader subscribing to and reading everything from the New Yorker to the Farm Journal. And to hear her tell it, she was always behind in her reading. She also played the organ and was an interesting conversationalist. Betty, at her passing, leaves a brother-in-law, Glen Lindsey of Pleasanton, sister-in-law, Jean Allen of LaCygne, and a number of nieces and nephews. As per Betty's wishes, she was cremated. Memorial services will be Friday, April 9, 2010 from 5:30-7:00 P.M. at Coffel-Schneider Chapel, LaCygne, Kansas. Contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.coffelschneider.com Arrangements: Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home, LaCygne, Kansas.
