Betty Crowther

Betty Allene Crowther, age 89 of Burlington, Kansas passed away Saturday April 7, 2012 at the Coffey County Hospital in Burlington, Kansas. She was born on December 22, 1922 at Richards, Missouri the daughter of Roy B. and Leona L. Hamby Johnson. Betty was a graduate of Hume High School. She married William Earl King on October 23, 1942, to the union three children were born he preceded her in death on January 7, 1979. Betty then married Charles Crowther on April 25, 1987 at Fort Scott, Kansas; he preceded her in death on April 25, 1998. Betty worked for the Prescott Schools as a cook. She was a member of the Hume Methodist Church, the Ladies Auxiliary, and the Pioneer Harvest Association in Fort Scott, Kansas. She loved to bowl, and would always help with the Cole Center Days in Prescott, Kansas. She is also preceded in death by her parents and a son Connie King. Survivors include a son John King of Odessa, Missouri, a daughter Donna Adams of Burlington, Kansas, five grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday April 9, 2012 at the Prescott United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1:00 to service time at the Church. Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery near Hammond, Kansas. The family suggests contributions to the Prescott United Methodist Church and may be left in C/O the Schneider Funeral Home Pleasanton Chapel P.O. Box 525, Pleasanton, Kansas 66075.
