Art Terry, age 71, Prescott, Kansas passed away on Monday, January 28, 2019 at his home. He was born on April 3, 1947 in Wichita, Kansas. He is the son of Leo and Helen Paxton Terry. He graduated from Pleasanton High School. He entered the United States Navy after graduation and proudly served his country in the Vietnam War. Art received his Class IV Certification for Water and Waste Water Treatment. He worked for the Cities of Prescott, Pleasanton, and LaCygne, and RWD#13. Art loved his family and enjoyed doing many different activities with them. Some of these included: attending fairs and parades, riding and driving horses, and gardening. He was a member of the Olson Frary Burkhart VFW Post #1165 and the Pleasanton Saddle Club. He recently became a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mound City. He came to know peace like he had never known as a result of this decision. He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Colette Fillpot on April 17, 1995. Art is survived by his son, Dwight Terry and wife Sabrina, daughter, Lizz Nation and husband Mike, son in law Greg Fillpot and wife Tracy, fiance, Sharon Coberley, nine grandchildren: Jamee, Zack, Brett, Emmah, Aubry, Shaylee, Chad, Olivia, and Blaiton, one great grandchild, Hadley, and Sharon''s sons, Tim and Jesse and their children Hailey and Wesley.
Funeral service 10:30 am Friday, February 1, 2019 at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel. Burial in the Fort Scott National Cemetery with military honors provided by Olson Frary Burkhart VFW Post 1165. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 pm Thursday at the Chapel.
