Arlene Harvey

Arlene Harvey, age 90, LaCygne, Kansas passed away as the result of an automobile accident Monday December 17, 2012. She was born at Drexel, Missouri on November 12, 1922 the daughter of Clifford and Mabel McMeins Johnston. She graduated from LaCygne High School in 1941. She owned a beauty salon, worked as a waitress and a bank cashier retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, Cadmus Grange #350, Loyal Workers Club, LaCygne Historical Society Board, Parker Library Board and the LaCygne Alumni Association. She married Melvin Dean Van Tuyl. To this union three children were born. She was preceded in death by two sons, Donald Dean and Melvin Dennis Van Tuyl, two brothers, John and LaVaun Johnston, a sister, Erlene Craighead, and a step son John Harvey. She is survived by her husband Fred Harvey, a daughter Sharon Wilkinson, brother Bill Johnston, step daughters, Donna Cushing and Janet Hester, a daughter in law, Kelly Van Tuyl and several grand and great grand children. Funeral service 11 AM Saturday December 22, 2012 Calvary Baptist Church, LaCygne, Kansas. Burial in the Cadmus Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM Friday at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, LaCygne Chapel.
