Anna Moore

July 23, 1926 — September 25, 2009

Anna Lee Moore's life was defined by hard work and dedication to service. Mrs. Moore, known as Annie to her friends, died September 25 surrounded by family in Tomball, Texas. She was 83 years old. Anna Lee was born July 23, 1926, southwest of Harrisonville, Mo., to Charley and Anna Moore. She worked as a tool grinder for a defense plant during World War II. After the war she worked as a secretary for Rev. John Crutchfield at Armour Heights Baptist Church, Kansas City, Kansas, and for 23 years at King Radio in Olathe, Kan., retiring in 1994. She considered her service to Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a member for 61 years, to be her most rewarding work. Mrs. Moore served Calvary Baptist in various capacities, including being Treasurer for over 30 years. Anna Lee married Loy J. Moore on February 12, 1948. For nearly six decades, she remained on the family farm on the Marais des Cygne River, where she had loved driving farm trucks and shuttling their children to sports practice, 4-H and church activities. After the flood of 2007, she moved to LaHarper Heights. Annie is survived by her children: daughters Lois Ann Coots of Houston; Debbie Kay Brown and husband Jeff of Paola, Kan.; son Jimmie Lee and wife Rhonda of LaCygne, Kan.; and son Russell Glen of Paola, Kan. She had seven grandchildren, four step grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and four step great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents; her brother, Charley T.; her sister, Madonna Wilson; and her husband of fifty years, Loy. Visitation will be Thursday, October 1 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in LaCygne. Memorial services will be held Friday, October 2 at 11 a.m., with burial services following at Oak Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 570, LaCygne, Kan. 66040.
