Allen Broyles

Allen Elbert Broyles, age 87, of Blue Mound, Kansas died Sunday August 31, 2008 at his home near Blue Mound, Kansas. He was born on July 6, 1921 at Mansfield, Missouri the son of Elbert Lee and Rose Mae Miller Broyles. As a child he lived in Missouri, Nebraska, and Kansas graduating from Humansville High School in 1938. On May 2, 1943 he married Wilma Ferrel Hull, together they made their home on the farm near Blue Mound for the last sixty-one years. Allen worked as a farmer and stockman his entire life. He was a member of Blue Mound United Methodist Church and Church Board, Blue Mound School Board, Unified School Board, Jayhawk Linn USD #346 School Board, was a recipient of the Kansas Bankers Soil Conservation Award 1973-199 for continued soil conservation, Lucky Ridgers 4-H Club Leader, member of the Blue Mound Lions Club, and a faithful spectator at his children's community and school activities. He was preceded in death by one daughter Phyllis Wilbert, one son Kevin Broyles, two grandchildren, Lori Broyles and James Savage, and two sisters, Mary Sisson and Ina McDuffee. He is survived by his wife Wilma of the home, two sons, Dwayne Broyles and wife Regina of Blue Mound, Terry Broyles and wife Jackie of Blue Mound; two daughters Beverly Harvey and husband Ray of Perryton, Texas and Barbi Savage and husband Kenny of Fort Scott, Kansas, son in law Ken Wilbert of Tulsa, Oklahoma and daughter in law Connie Broyles of Blue Mound, one sister Helen Pangborn of Bolivar, Missouri, eighteen grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren, and five nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday September 3, 2008 at the Blue Mound United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Sunny Slope Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 PM Tuesday September 2, 2008 at the Coffel-Schneider Funeral Home in Mound City, Kansas. The family suggests contributions to the Blue Mound United Methodist.
