Adelaide Greene

October 22, 1942 — July 28, 2020

AdelaideHelen Greene, 77, of Centerville, Kansas died on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Medicalodge of Fort Scott after a long illness.  Helen was born on October 22, 1942 in Skowhegan, Maine to Merwyn and Geneva (Lancaster) Hinkley.   On February 27, 1965 she married the love of her life, Ronald Leslie Greene, in Skowhegan, Maine.  Helen completed her Associate Degree and worked as an X-Ray technician for several hospitals.  She was a member of the Mound City United Methodist Church and the Grange.  As Ron like to say, "She was an excellent hooker."  She made beautiful hooked rugs.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, two half-brothers; and one half-sister.  Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Ron Greene of the home, two sons, Leslie Greene and Timothy Greene and wife Gretchen Davis, her twin brother, John Hinkley, a grandson, Leslie Bodwell-Greene and his mother, Jennifer Abbott, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.


A gathering to honor Helen's life will be held 2 pm Sunday, August 23, 2020 at  the Mound City United Methodist Church.  Arrangements:  Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Mound City Chapel.
