Condolence From: Connie S Stout
Condolence: Uncle Jack means a lot to my sister Jacqueline C Russell, our mom Ivis C Hefflefinger and myself. He always seemed like a gruff and grumpy old man but in reality he was a huggable teddy bear. We will always love and cherish him. But now he will be at peace and reunited with Aunt Bethie. Good bye Uncle Jack

Condolence: My sinceriest sympathy to Jack's family. Jack and I lived but a stones throw away from each other for 5 years. He was quite a character. He would tell stories and laugh and joke and would have me in stitches laughing. Jack and I were both opinionated and we would sit outside every spring and summer and visit at times bantering over our opinions. But we would always end with an I'm sorry and a hand shake. If I ever needed anything Jack was always there to help. I counted Jack as one of my good friends. He will be missed greatly by our small community here in Mound City at the housing. Jack, I will not forget you... love you buddy!

Condolence: Jack was one of the best neighbors anyone could wish for. Every time we would be at the lake we would hope to run across Jack. But he was one the busiest retired guys I’d ever met. Always doing something somewhere. Helping a neighbor or just out telling stories. I will miss our time sitting on the porch just talking. Thoughts and prayers to all that loved and knew him.

Condolence: He took us in as his the day we bought this place. Always called us his kids. A few days before we moved in I came out and mowed all day with my push mower. It was all I had. Two days later we came out to move in and he had mowed the whole place.
Not long after we moved in we had a party with a big fire from trees we cut. Over the hill came Very driving the fire wagon and Jack riding behind. We had such good times. He always seemed bigger than life.
From the start he always told Steve we're gonna raise you right.
I missed them when they moved. We didn't see them as much but we always kept in touch. I'm so glad we got to spend those few hours with him a couple weeks ago. He hadn't changed. Still full of it. Lol. One of the first things he said was we raised him right.
He said he saw Bethy sitting in his chair, she pointed at him and said soon. So I knew it wouldn't be long.
We loved and will miss that old man but he is with Beth now and she will take good care of him.

Condolence: I loved my bimonthly visits with Jack. He would drive over to my place and we would visit about the old days. He talked a lot about “Momma”. Now he can Rest In Peace with her. He loved her dearly.
When I went to see him the Saturday before he passed he was really made at the lady for taking his Drivers liscense but I said “Jack your 97”. His reply was” well how am I going to get over to you?” I think we both enjoyed our company. I know when I first met him several yrs ago he was on the rough side but as we saw one another more he softened up. I was very happy when he tracked me down after I left my job. It was my pleasure to care for your father. Very sorry for your loss.
I can’t make the service but your Dad wouldn’t want me to keep others waiting. He was good like that.

Condolence: Diana and family: Jack was a very special person and I enjoyed visiting with him when he lived in he Senior apartments in Mound City. I went every day to take care of my aunt who also lived in the apartments. He was always sitting outside and would always speak to me if he saw me. He talked about the days when he worked on the railroad. I am so sorry for your loss. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Condolence: Jack was one of my favorite people. He made me laugh and smile. I was sad to hear of his passing and I can't go to the services but I wanted to let his loved ones know that I thought a lot about him and he was truly a great person. He talked about his family and his wife that had passed and how fortunate he felt he was. I will miss him much! Thinking about his family and friends. Caroline
